Oscar and Rosie Update After being in foster care for just under 4 weeks, Oscar suddenly started having cluster seizures this week, a series of seizures within a 24 hour period. These can be very dangerous and even fatal at times. Not knowing any prior medical history on the abandoned pair we have no idea if this is a condition poor Oscar has lived with all along, or if it is a sudden onset. We have done a full blood and urine workup and everything came back normal and did not indicate any specific seizure condition. We are currently working very closely with the Dr. to find the right combination of anti convulsive medications for Oscar and help him adjust. The good news is he has not had a seizure in 48 hours and the dangerous clustering seems to have subsided. Oscar is being watched very carefully in his foster home and wants to thank everyone for their continued support! Oscar's recent medical expenses for his seizure episode totaled $321.39 and we anticipate more while helping determine the root cause and appropriate treatment going forward. After 3 weeks nobody claimed them and they simply weren't thriving in the shelter. That is when Curly Tail stepped in and brought these two babies into foster care.
Upon Intake several things were noted:
Oscar had stitches in his face (from a recent surgery) that were left in too long and had become infected with open sores. He was also wheezing and put on antibiotics to treat both the skin infection and Upper Respiritory Infection.
Rosie had horrible tooth decay, several infected teeth that need to be pulled, the rest needed to be scaled and a severe Urinary Tract Infection. She was also put on a 2 week course of antibiotics.
Since being in Curly Care for the last 3 weeks, both pugs have have been making wonderful strides in the healing process and are doing beautifully in their foster home.
Oscar's foster mom says he looks a lot like Walter Matthau, and Rosie is sweet as a cupcake! Both are simply irresistible little characters with a lot of love to give some lucky family.
This adorable bonded pair is up for adoption (together) and are hoping to meet their new forever family soon!! Oscar and Rosie's medical care has cost $1495 to date. IDEXX testing, Office visits UTI treatment Suture removal RX x2 $369 Rosie blood panel, dental $563 Oscar blood panel, dental $563 Please consider chipping into our Oscar and Rosie fund to help cover the costs of their medical care and get these precious babies one step closer to finding their forever homes.
